Building capacity across Bioinformatics, Health Informatics and Public Health, to realise e-Health

About NIBHI

The Northwest Institute for BioHealth Informatics is a research partnership reaching across England’s Northwest Region. NIBHI is centred at the University of Manchester.

NIBHI is a focal point for research and training that:

  • Leads path-finding e-Health research across disciplines, particularly health informatics, bioinformatics and statistics/epidemiology.

  • Builds regional capacity in Health Informatics and health applications of Bioinformatics through education and training – from half day courses to university degrees.

  • Provides a research and learning environment for problem-solving across disciplines – for example biologists, clinicians, statisticians and epidemiologists sharing data and analytical tools.

  • Develops e-infrastructure for health research, including: large-scale aggregations of data from healthcare settings; and computational resources for genomic epidemiology.

  • Develops e-Health research and development partnerships with industry and the National Health Service.

  • Elevates England's Northwest as the leading UK location for e-Health research.
